Sports Hall - YEAR 2023 - 2024
Welcome to our Sports Hall Page for 2023/2024
YEAR 2023 - 2024
WOW!! WOW!! and WOW!! What another incredible year of sport at Haydn!
Words cannot describe how amazing it has been to see so many children getting involved in and (more importantly!) loving doing so many different sporting activities. Our effort and commitment to getting children active has seen us be awarded the 'Gold Award' for the third year in a row from our local school games organisers and external moderators.
A would like to say a HUGE thank you to our amazing team of teachers and teaching assistants that have made all these opportunities possible, taking the children to various different locations to take part. Without them, so much of what we do would not be possible
Yr 5/6Traditional Sports Day Races - Thursday 18th July
Our final afternoon of races took place with our eldest children taking to the KS2 field. Unlike Tuesday, the sun was blazing down and the children dealt with the heat brilliantly. Everyone took part in a running race, obstacle race, racket and ball race and a relay. A fantastic time was had by all. Smiles, determination and resilience shown through, and we are incredibly proud of all the children.
Yr 3/4 Traditional Sports Day Races -Tuesday 16th July
After a tense wait throughout the morning, the weather was kind to us and the Year 3 & 4 races were able to go ahead!! The children took part brilliantly. Every child took part in a running race, obstacle race and a bat and ball race, whilst the planned relay didn't quite make it to ensure nobody got soaking wet!
Well done to everyone involved, and the cheer from the parents and carers at the end was reflective of how amazing everyone had been. Well done Year 3 and Year 4.
KS1 (Yr 1/2) Traditional Sports Day Races - Friday 12th July
Wow KS1!! You were OUTSTANDING!!!
After a full morning taking part in our potted sports, Years 1 and 2 took to the field to take part in more traditional sports day races. Each child took part in a running race, obstacle race, bat and bean bag race and then in teams as part of a relay. The children supported each other, tried their best and had a fantastic afternoon in front of families: you wouldn't have know they had been doing PE all morning!
Year 1 to Year 6 Potted Sports Morning - Friday 12th July
What an absolutely fantastic morning of sport! Themed on the Paris 2024 Olympics, over 350 children split in different country teams to work their way through 25 different activity stations. The weather was kind and as a result, it was the ultimate show of our school games values: teamwork, determination, honesty, passion, respect and self belief. Every single person got involved, earned points for their teams and smiled all the way round! The medals will be awarded on Monday in assembly ...... watch this space!!
(NB! Photos for any event like this are tricky due to permissions and some children not being allowed on our website and everyone was too busy having a fantastic time to think about photos - hopefully some will make it up but rest assured it was the most fabulous morning!)
Drum roll please ...........
In third place, were the team representing Greece
In second place, were the team representing Australia
and the winners ......
In first place, were the team representing Jamaica!!

Under the guidance of the Year 10 sports leaders, the children took part in some training to build upon their understanding of the positions, rules and team work before playing competitive matches. Both teams were spectacular! The team in the morning, secured victory in all four games: winning 6 - 0, 3 - 0, 6-2 and finally 8 -0! This meant that they were there overall group winners, claiming medals and a trophy. Not to be outdone, the afternoon team performed equally well, winning 4 - 0, . In the end, they finished a magnificent third overall, which before that morning, would have been our best ever result! Congratulations to every one who represented school. In fact, after their dress rehearsal in front of other schools, the children were desperate to get back onto the stage for the main show. We are so super proud of you all

All of the activities were delivered by staff from Notts County Cricket Club. The children then took part in a fabulous inspirational assembly with Joe, where he explained his journey as a swimmer, shared his experiences and showed us his medals.
