Computing
Computing at Haydn is embedded throughout each year group as well as across the curriculum. We believe that technology is a tool that we harness effectively to strengthen the teaching of all subjects. We ensure that the computing curriculum is progressive and each year the children build on skills they have previously learnt. Teachers model good practise of how to utilise technology and how to use it safely. Children are taught from the very start of school how to use technology and are ready to enter a technological world. We embody the school's 5 R ethos ensuring children are resourceful, responsible, resilient and reflective throughout their use of technology. Year 5 ‘Digital Leaders’ are trained each year and assist in the delivery of computing in the years below. They use knowledge that they have previously learnt to help other children in their learning. This is a strength in computing at Haydn, it incorporates teamwork and problem solving in all pupils’ learning. This policy document sets out the school’s aims, principles and strategies for the delivery of Computing.
