Outdoor Learning
Outdoor Learning and Forest School at Haydn
Haydn Primary School has developed a Forest School within the Blackwoods on Hucknall Road and in the Forest Garden at School to give children the unique opportunity of experiencing first hand play and learning in a controlled woodland environment.
At Haydn we are dedicated to giving all children the opportunity to learn and explore outside. Children in F2 and year 1 have regular access to outdoor learning led by a qualified Level 3 Forest School Practitioner. Whether they are creating, constructing, using tool, building dens or just chilling in a hammock, there is something for everyone.
Further up the school, each child is able to explore the outdoors for at least 3 sessions in our Forest Garden or at the Blackwoods.
A Forest School approach encourages children to:
- Develop personal and social skills
- Become motivated learners

- Use tools in safety when building and creating
- Discover how they learn best
- Independently pursue their own areas of interest
- Manage failure effectively
